Who is GPAR?

Advocates for YOU and Your Business. Elevating and Protecting PROFESSIONALISM. Tools and Resources for SUCCESS.

The Greater Philadelphia Association of REALTORS® (GPAR) is a membership trade organization for licensed real estate professionals and related service providers in Greater Philadelphia. GPAR offers professional and business development, supports ethical practices, provides legislative advocacy, and protects the rights of private property owners. Our REALTOR® members help clients, promote homeownership and give back to the communities they serve. Founded in 1908 as the Philadelphia Real Estate Brokers Association, GPAR has grown in size and diversity and is The Voice for Real Estate in Philadelphia.

Benefits of Membership:

Dedicated Staff

GPAR has a team of professional staffers dedicated to helping members with their business. From electronic keys to professional development to grassroots advocacy, the GPAR staff is here to assist our members.

Professional Standards, Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Administration

The vast majority of real estate transactions close without incident, however, unprofessional behavior, problems or disputes do occur. GPAR is committed to enforcing the REALTORS® Code of Ethics to eliminate practices that damages the public and dishonors the real estate profession. We promote honesty, integrity, fairness and competency to resolve disputes on the basis of the informed judgment of one’s peers. We ensure due process, which requires a fair and diligent search for the truth with an opportunity for all facts to be gathered, all views to be heard, all defenses to be raised and all prejudice or bias to be expunged. GPAR also facilitates options to avoid long and costly court litigation when transaction problems arise. The Home Buyers/Home Sellers Dispute Resolution System (DRS) mediation program can help when a dispute cannot be resolved through negotiations. Arbitration is another legal technique for the resolution of disputes outside the courts. It is a settlement method in which a third party reviews the case and imposes a decision that is legally binding for both sides. When problems arise, please reach out to us to explore your options.

Your Legislative Advocate

GPAR is the legislative voice of the Philadelphia REALTOR® community in both City Hall and Harrisburg. We are effective advocates for our members because we’ve built meaningful relationships with policymakers. Locally, we understand the city’s unique legislative process. Prior successes include getting REALTORS® back to work and deemed essential in Harrisburg during the early months of the pandemic, the passage of legislation to stop predatory home purchasing and the creation of the nation’s largest land bank. We’ve actively supported legislation to repurpose unused public schools, collect delinquent taxes, and the very successful 10-year real estate tax abatement program. On the state level, we articulate our voice to the city’s delegation.

Professional Development & Networking Events

GPAR helps with your educational and professional development needs. We host numerous pay-as-you-go educational courses, including designation and continuing education. GPAR also hosts a ton of FREE networking events and seminars to connect you with key industry contacts and expand your toolbox to successfully grow your business.
